
There are seven primary schools and two junior high schools in the municipality of Nowe Skalmierzyce. 1,513 students attend compulsorily these schools and around 184 teachers work there full time in the school year of 2009/2010. Young children attend four kindergartens. Around 77% of all the small children are provided with preschool education which distinguishes us from other municipalities. Recent years have been dedicated to investments in raising the level of teaching by re-developing of the schools and building new ones. The outlays for education constitute 43,55% of the total expenses of the municipal budget. Schools carry out different educational projects, some of them are funded by the European Social Fund. The projects help to equalize educational opportunities, support solving learning problems and getting to know other cultures. Each school is equipped with computer labs and libraries with the Internet centers of multimedia information. Usually, there is one computer for eight students. The schools are also provided with modern teaching aids, including interactive whiteboards which support learning process. The municipality owns a coach for transporting students. It is adapted to the needs of disabled students due to its special platform. It is worth mentioning that most of the schools have had a comprehensive modernization.
